Yr 5 Camp

Year 5 students recently enjoyed a fantastic 4 day camp at Tallebudgera Beach.

The first day of camp had students taking part in various activities that included working together to explore the camp venue, tobogganing and after dinner participating in rock climbing and fun team challenges.

Tuesday's activities involved students exploring Burleigh Mountain and learning about the Aboriginal heritage of the area and also developing their surf awareness skills by participating in a number of activities including body boarding.

On Wednesday students took part in a day of adventure which started with a canoe adventure, which involved a one hour long paddle to crab island, where students learnt about the important role mangroves have in the environment, tried yabby pumping and had a relaxing float down the creek on the tide.  After paddling back to the beach the afternoon consisted of participating in a number of team challenges that involved electric fence escape, fill the tube and a sand sculpture competition.

The last day saw students test their confidence on the tree tops challenge at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.  This involved students completing a number of challenging elements amongst the tree tops.  The favourite part of many students was the opportunity to zip line across part of a crocodile enclosure.
